'Prometheus' Trailer: In Space, No-one Can Hear Your 'Inception' Horn

"I loved a clip for 'Inception,'" David Fincher told Moviefone. "I simply don't wish to result in the trailer for 'Inception.' I appreciate what it really was, but I'm not going my trailer to visit, "Whomb ... Whomb!" Personally i think that's their factor. They made it happen superbly, more energy for them. They top quality a seem. They top quality a means of the kind of throbbing proactive approach. Great. 'The Girl using the Dragon Tattoo' isn't that. It is a completely different factor. You realize, it is a very different experience." Indeed it's making you question if Ridley Scott feels exactly the same way following a discharge of the very first trailer for 'Prometheus.' Over disturbing images of space turmoil, the soundtrack features that familiar 'Inception' horn to progressively tense levels until it culminates having a lady (possibly co-star Noomi Rapace?) screaming, "Please!" Yikes and all sorts of, but: familiar. "They went searching for our beginning," reads a title card in the finish. "The things they found might be our finish." BRRNNNNNNNNN. Space 'Inception,' y'all! Starring Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Guy Pearce and Rapace, 'Prometheus' hits theaters on June 21, 2012. As you've most likely heard right now, it might be an 'Alien' prequel and/or exist in the 'Alien' world. Mind to Apple to look at in HD or watch below. ABC News adjusts 'Picture'

One of ABC News prexy Ben Sherwood's top projects is coming to fruition: The entire division is launching a major rebranding initiative starting Monday. The news division's motto is now "See the Whole Picture," a slogan that seems tailor-made to invite viewers anxious for some clarity during the 2012 election season -- and afterward, of course. There's the new tagline and also a new leading image of the net's entire on-air staff posed together in a yearbook-style photo, with Barbara Walters front and center, in red, flanked by Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer. The new campaign will emphasize ABC News' ability to make stories about far-reaching events relevant to American viewers, and puts major emphasis on the Alphabet's roster of personalities.ABC's calling card has been the claim "More Americans get their news from ABC News" since at least 1988 (it's been around so long, representatives for the network couldn't remember having been without it), so the change is major. Sherwood told journos in October that the "more Americans" statement was literally true, now more than ever, as the company partnered with Yahoo to provide wider distribution for its content.During that deal, as well, ABC touted its bench of anchors and correspondents. Sherwood, who joined the net just over a year ago, has focued on talent moves in his first year on the job, sometimes sacrificing exclusivity to nab or keep a major newsperson. Katie Couric joined the Alphabet after her departure from CBS, and will report for ABC News as she works on her new syndie yakker for ABC/Disney Domestic TV. And just last week, ABC and CNN negotiated an unprecedented deal to share Christiane Amanpour, for whom ABC's traditionally domestic-politics-heavy "This Week" seemed an uncomfortable fit ("This Week" saw editions based in both Libya and Egypt this year). Amanpour will have several specials a year on ABC and will report for CNN.As the campaign rolls out through 2012, it will emphasize that versatility even as the division's reach expands via Yahoo. The promos will appear on all ABC News broadcasts to begin with, and will land on ABC News Radio, on abcnews.com and on Yahoo! in 2012. Contact Sam Thielman at sam.thielman@variety.com

Donald Trump's GOP Debate: Mitt Romney Becomes Third Candidate Who Won't Participate

Winner for the hottest topic in Hollywood: Netflix.our editor recommendsSony Executive Talks Early Digital Film Releases, Netflix, Future of Music Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes: 'Netflix Is Our Friend'CBS CEO Leslie Moonves: 'We Want a Healthy Netflix'Starz Not 'Reveling' in Netflix's Pain After Severing Ties With the Company, Says Top ExecNetflix Hires Former Skype Executive and FCC Advisor to Head Government Relations That's judging from an investors conference in NY that wraps up Wednesday and where some of the industry's biggest players are there to promote their own TV and film businesses, though they couldn't stop talking about Netflix. No wonder, then, when Netflix CEO Reed Hastings finally took the floor, it was standing-room, with heavy hitters like Harvey Weinstein joining an audience primarily of Wall Street bankers and analysts. Before Hastings sat down for a Q&A with UBS executive Aryeh Bourkoff, his ears must have been burning, since he and Netflix had already been discussed by Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves, Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei and others. "Last year you were a key topic here, but you were not here. There was a mix of fear, envy and mystique," Bourkoff said, noting that it was the first time Hastings appeared at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference. "Now it's just pity," Hastings joked, a reference to a decimated stock price and a dented reputation brought about by a dramatic price increase and other public-relations misfires. Hastings told the audience that he considers the "quite impressive" HBO Go his primary competition. If the on-demand service for HBO subscribers was part of Netflix, it would account for 25 percent of its customers' streaming, he estimated. "They're not competing directly with us, but they can," Hastings said. "We'll push each other like two runners." Referencing Netflix's upcoming original series House of Cards, Hastings said of HBO in general: "They are becoming more like us and we are becoming more like them." Hastings also predicted that within 10 years about half of all TV viewing in the U.S. will come via the Internet, and it's that assumption that caused the company to charge head-strong into streaming even though, in hindsight, the move was "a little too fast" and he ended up irritating consumers. He acknowledged that he and the executives at Netflix rarely watch DVDs anymore, so he may have misread the typical consumer. "Our big obsession for the year was, 'let's not live and die by DVD,'" he said. Of the 60 percent price hike that got the company so much negative attention and cost Netflix about 1 million subscribers, Hastings said: "We berate ourselves tremendously for that lack of insight." Hastings said Netflix will stream 1 billion hours of content this quarter and, if House of Cards goes well, he could see the company eventually spending as much as 15 percent of its content-acquisition budget on original shows. Hide

Carla Gugino in "Hide"Shot in New Orleans by Stephanie Germain Prods. Executive producer, Germain producer, Christopher Morgan director, John Grey author, Jesse Brownell in line with the novel by Lisa Gardner.Detective D.D. Warren - Carla Gugino Det. Bobby Dodge - Kevin Alejandro Alex Wilson - Mark-Paul Gosselaar Annabelle - Bridget ReganTNT's "Mystery Movie Evening" is unquestionably a throwback towards the days of old of TV movies, but perform the projects really need to be plucked directly from a period machine? Enter "Hide," a harsh, nasty and almost comically overheated potboiler, featuring Carla Gugino like a Boston detective looking into the mummified remains of six youthful women. It is a mystery, it is a place of work romantic triangular, it's two taste goodies in a single. While it's nice to determine made-fors creating a small-comeback, it will not last lengthy if they are as dunderheaded as that one. The physiques are located within an abandoned mental hospital, and D.D. Warren (Gugino) and fellow detective Bobby Ridge (Kevin Alejandro) are rapidly around the situation. Indeed, and they are also sleeping together, but with no commitment because, as D.D. describes, "I'm for each other. With this particular. Using what I actually do.Inch Getting not read Lisa Gardner's novel, let us assume author Jesse Brownell attempted to become faithful towards the tone, however it completely flummoxed her and director John Grey, who've concocted a film full of stilted dialogue and improbable twists and turns. Many of them focus on a mysterious lady named Annabelle (Bridget Regan) having a vague past who becomes area of the situation, along with a potential target for that shadowy killer. D.D. also accumulates a brand new investigator, Alex (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), who quickly feels at liberty to psychoanalyze her relationship with Bobby when he is not helping seek clues. If their banter should be sexy, the actual mystery is the reason why she does not mace him the very first time the bozo begins insinuating themself into her mind. All this develops toward a breathless climax absurd even through the conventions from the thriller genre. It's almost worth watching going back fifteen minutes only for giggles. Although Gugino continues to be good in lots of things, it's difficult to determine what she's attempting to convey with this particular role, playing a most probably hard-bitten detective as though she's a kittenish Jessica Rabbit. On the other hand, that's most likely over-thinking things, that is something nobody will accuse the filmmakers to do. Many doubtless harbor fond reminiscences from the "Mystery Movie" wheel, and TNT -- using its selection of mostly meat-and-taters series -- warrants kudos for attempting to revive that nostalgic franchise for any new generation. Something similar to "Hide," though, isn't any method to jump-start the genre -- unless of course the aim would be to try hiding in plain sight.Camera, James Chressanthis production designer, Jaymes Hinkle editor, Neil Mandelberg music, Michael A. A Theatre Passe Muraille and Leading to Problems Stage Company presentation from the Atomic Vaudeville musical in one act. Book by Jacob Richmond. Lyrics and music by Brooke Maxwell and Richmond. Directed by Britt Small , Richmond. Choreographed and staged by Treena Stubel.Ocean Rosenberg - Rielle Braid Misha Bachinsky - Matthew Coulson Constance Blackwood - Kelly Hudson Ough Potts - Elliot Loran Jane Doe - Sarah Pelzer Noel Gruber - Kohlby WardellPicture "Forever Plaid" meets "Glee" meets "Spring Awakening" you may have a great idea of "Ride the Cyclone," a completely new musical that has been kicking around for quite a while but recently was modified and mounted in the production that's offered out its entire Toronto run and created people wanted-for words round the Canadian musical scene: "The next 'Drowsy Chaperone.'" Happily, show lives around the thrill. It doesn't only have legs, it's a centipede. "Drowsy" and "Cyclone" have little to keep, except both drummed up a effective grass roots support and handled to have interaction both auds and native press. "Cyclone" arises from an eclectic west coast company referred to as Atomic Vaudeville, and Jacob Richmond's awesome book is vital. A five-voice choir from Uranium City, Saskatchewan, all die in the curler- coaster crash inside a tacky circus. They return within the dead to supply the final concert, numerous party pieces through which they sing in what their existence was like and whatever they wanted it may be. The gay guy regrets getting bought before he "kissed a man or visited Paris," and therefore does in the fantasy, as being a floozie chanteusie (Kohlby Wardell, in the virtuoso turn). The troubled daughter from the bitchy Irish mother together with a Marxist Jewish father relives the debate where she lost out, despite her awesome talent, to political correctness (Rielle Braid, remaining from cliches). Furthermore, you will find the comicbook geek who want to be a hero referred to as Bachelor Guy (Elliott Loran in fine form), the Ukranian immigrant who combines gangsta rap with classical ballet (a amusing Matthew Coulson) as well as the sweet girl who out of the blue breaks out in to a gospel song of complete disclosure (Kelly Hudson, who you'd follow anywhere). Music by Brooke Maxwell handles being tuneful and theatrical without falling into pastiche, while lyrics by Maxwell and Richmond will be clever and frequently more. Show acquires one more edge with the feel of a sixth chorister, empty-eyed and quiet since the grave. Nobody knows who she's or how she showed up, however, if she sings you understand dying might be the actual theme in the show. Artist Sarah Pelzer's empty stare and soaring voice produce a great combination for your part. A pleasurable tuner with great resonance, "Cyclone" is among the demise of small metropolitan areas, youthful lives as well as the wants an entire generation, nevertheless it can get across its message with real skill. Having its small-scale cast and production values, "Ride the Cyclone" seems a tempting prospect for canny producers.Set, Hank Pine and James Insell costumes, Ingrid Hansen lighting, Michael Franzmann.
